$14,500 for a brand new 2019 Forte, MSRP is $18,400.
They have Apple Car Play/Android Auto, h eated s eats, h eated s teering w heel. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. Lane Keeping Assist. Driver Attention Alert.
My 2018 has....wheels?
I should test drive a Forte. I’d make the trek to the Island for this.

But does it have AC?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:27 |

Yea h, but couldn’t you get like of your Forte for the cost of this one?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:28 |

Oh, yes it does! I forgot to mention that.

Weren't you holding out for a 2020 for some reason?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:29 |

And it’s red, too!
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:36 |

Until 2020, but not necessarily for a 2020.
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:37 |

But how many unobtainable discounts does that price include?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:39 |

That’s less than 11k freedombux ™ . Crazy.

I’ve never been in a car without A/C anywhere*, but I’ve heard some Canadian market cars still have it as an option, is that right?
*not even the classics...all of them at least had a retrofit
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:51 |

That’s a no brainer imho.
![]() 09/25/2019 at 14:52 |

Only on Oppo would someone be so excited about a Forte...go get it!

“ I upgraded from a KIA Forte to a KIA Forte”
![]() 09/25/2019 at 15:02 |

Are you sure it has the driver aids with the manual LX? On Kia’s website it’s from the Auto LX and up

My Canadian-market
2009 Hyundai Accent has no A/C!
I know there are still a few cars here you can get without it, but it’s becoming rarer...

in quebec that’s called a Quebec special,
Manual, no A/C and no options.
I live in northern quebec, and the last time any of my cars didn’t have A/C was back in the 90s. Strangely, Block heaters are still an option here.

I just copiee the listing. There's no way that the base model has it
![]() 09/25/2019 at 15:11 |

Honestly, it's cheaper to buy a new one every year then change the oil in the one I have

That’s a steal. I decided to check li local Kia dealer of deals like this. They have 3, yes 3 new old stock 2018 Fortes and even those are only $1 000 off original MSRP. Crazy. The 2019s are about $ 2500 off with a factory $ 1500 rebate.
I’d be nice to get a deal on a 2020 Turbo Soul next year...

I don’t think Hyundai/Kia has figured out how to implement these things with a manual. Honda has it on the Accord that nobody buys in manual
![]() 09/25/2019 at 16:34 |

What’s that?

![]() 09/25/2019 at 16:47 |

Not cheap enough sadly
![]() 09/25/2019 at 16:59 |
|
Same price as a new Forte........
Or did you mean cheap as in “quality”?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:02 |
|
The ones here are not the same price sadly. Also I need new(er). At most, 2 years old.
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:05 |
|
Why do you need new(er)?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:07 |

I can write off the depreciation on my taxes
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:09 |
|
Interesting.
Don’t think I can do that around here.
Next question, is the write off really worth it, or would buying a better car and keeping it long term be a better bet?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:11 |
|
Probably the better car. But I can’t find a decent model of what you’ve shown me for less than $20K
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:21 |
|
That’s crazy, cheapest I found near you was $22k.
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:27 |
|
Yeah. otherwise I’d be totally down
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:42 |

There were a bunch of loaded Optimas and Elantras under $15k though....

Now I feel old. I have been in many , driven a handful , and owned cars without A/C all in hot SoCal.
Up here, if it wasn’t on everything and didn’t help with defrosting, I suspect you could suffer through the month or two without it that you’d be uncomfortable. It’s just rarely that hot...
![]() 09/25/2019 at 17:46 |

Hmm. I kinda want a manual, but I will check them out!
![]() 09/25/2019 at 18:06 |

Get it! We only get base model with manual here afaik, but the turbo is on my short list once my wife's car is paid off and my beater's watch has ended.
![]() 09/25/2019 at 18:37 |
|
Does it have A/C?
![]() 09/25/2019 at 18:50 |
|
indeed!
![]() 09/26/2019 at 09:23 |

Down in the Southeast, I think the bigger issue is the humidity (PNW humidity PLUS SoCal heat...argh)
. If you didn’t have AC, the interior would likely turn to mold after a decade or two. Those retrofitted A/C systems usually suck horribly, but they at least help a little.
